Street Theatre
Outside the Festival fortnight, throughout the summer months, particularly at weekends the cobbled square is the place to be if you want to catch up on some street entertainment.

The Chamber of Trade sponsor groups such as the Penny Plain Theatre Company, a Grassington-based Victorian troupe performing in the guise of Hardcastle’s Mighty Excelsior Theatre.

Visit their website – www.pennyplaintheatre.co.uk for details of their appearances in Grassington.

April and October see the Grassington Players treading the boards of the Devonshire Institute as they perform that season’s comedy or tragedy with ‘bitter sweet laughter and tears’ their speciality. They also perform at the Grassington Dickensian festivities (see Dickensian page).

Now in their 9th decade with a dedicated following, the players always welcome new members.

For more information visit their website www.
