Things to do in and around Grassington
Wharfedale is walking country par excellence! – From gentle
river and woodland strolls to challenging treks over the open
fells. Wharfedale has it all. See
ancient priories, churches and hidden places on ‘The Dales Way'
by the banks of the tumbling river Wharfe, be in awe of
nature’s wonders at Kilnsey Crag or be exhilarated by the
panorama of the open fell.
A programme of guided walks is organised by the Yorkshire Dales
National Park.
For a steady walk around the village of Grassington itself, why
not pick up a copy of Ian Goldthorpe’s ‘101 Things to see on a
walk through Grassington’, available in most local shops for £
1.50.
Grassington lies on ‘The Dales Way’, an 84 mile walk from Ilkley
to Bowness-on-Windermere and also on the ‘Dales Cycle Way’ a
circular 130 mile cycle ride through many of the towns and
villages in the Yorkshire Dales.

Fly-fishing is available on the river Wharfe. Day tickets
may be purchased by Rod Fishing Licence holders from the Post
Office or Robert Bunney's Menswear both in the main square.
Fell races are held
during the year at Grassington, Burnsall, Hebden, Kilnsey and
Buckden Sports Days.
For the extreme sports enthusiast, why not try the Fellsmans
Hike, a 24 hour, 60 mile endurance event.
